THE Electoral Commission of Zambia (ECZ) has declared UPND Lumezi North candidate Anderson Banda as duly elected MP. This follows the withdrawal of NRPUP from all by-elections and the resignation of the Leadership Movement candidate Nebby Manda. NRPUP withdrew from the Lumezi North and Mandevu parliamentary and Mbala mayoral by-elections scheduled for November 5, while Manda was the only other validly nominated candidate. NRPUP was the only party that was expected to file a nomination yesterday, following the death of its candidate Clement Mwale, who passed away on July 16, 2026, after a short illness.
