NGOCC board chairperson Mary Mulenga says Zambia’s High Commissioner to Kenya Brenda Muntemba’s death has robbed the country of a great mentor.
In a statement, Thursday, Mulenga stated that NGOCC was saddened by Muntemba’s death.
“The Non-governmental Gender Organisations’ Coordinating Council (NGOCC) is saddened by the death of Zambia’ s High Commissioner to Kenya Ms. Brenda Muntemba who died on Tuesday evening in a Kenyan hospital. The death of Ms. Muntemba has without doubt robbed the country of a gallant woman who was a mentor and an inspiration to many young women in the country. In a country with deeply entrenched patriarchy, Ms. Muntemba distinguished herself and proved the worthiness of women’s leadership if accorded the opportunity. There is no doubt that she served her country with distinction in the various positions she held until her demise. Her passion and love for country remains impeccable!” stated Mulenga.
“We therefore urge the young women to emulate the selfless and focused leadership demonstrated by Ms. Muntemba. On behalf of the women’s movement, we pass our deep and heartfelt condolences to the family of Ms. Brenda Muntemba on the loss of a loved one.”
