An 18-year-old grade eight pupil of Chibolya Compound has narrated to the Lusaka Magistrates’ Court how three men allegedly raped her and her sister around 05:00 hours on their way home from their uncle’s place.
In this matter, Jack Ngoma, a 29-year-old unemployed man of Chibolya Compound is accused of having carnal knowledge of a girl without her consent.
Particulars of the offence allege that on February 25 this year, Ngoma had carnal knowledge of a girl without her consent.
And when the matter came up for trial in the Lusaka Magistrates’ Court, Friday, the victim, a grade eight pupil at Masila community school, told the court that on the material day, she and her sister were heading back home from their uncle’s place where they had slept when they saw a man going towards them.
“It was around 05:00 hours when we were going back to our mother’s place when we saw a man coming towards us. The man then held my sister by the hand and asked where we were coming from. When we told him that we were coming from our uncle’s place, he by-passed us but later returned and held my sister by the hand,” she said.
The victim testified that later on, two men arrived and one of them held her by the hand.
She said she and her sister asked the men to let go of them but to no avail, which caused them to start crying after the men threatened to stab them.
The victim further testified that one of the men asked her to remove her clothes while another man asked her sister to also undress and they were raped.
“Two men asked me and my sister to undress but I refused. One of the men hit me in the stomach and felt pain and dizzy. It was at this point that one of the men raped me. My sister also informed me that two men raped her. We went home while crying,” she said.
The victim identified Ngoma as one of the men who allegedly raped her and her sister.
Trial will continue on June 28.
