FORMER health minister Dr Chitalu Chilufya has been appointed to serve on the Parliamentary Budget Committee following the appointment of Raphael Nakacinda as Water Development and Sanitation Minister.

Announcing the development in Parliament, Tuesday, First Deputy Speaker of the National Assembly Catherine Namugala said the appointment was meant to replace Nakacinda, who had since been elevated to a full Cabinet portfolio.

“Honourable members, I have an announcement to make. I wish to inform the House that according Standing Orders No. 135 part 3 as read with Standing Orders No. 148 of the standing orders of the National Assembly of Zambia orders of 2016, Honourable Chitalu Chilufya has been appointed to the Parliamentary Budget Committee in order to fill the appointment of Honourable Raphael Nakacinda as Cabinet Minister,” said Namugala.

Dr Chilufya, who is also Mansa Central PF member of parliament, was sacked by President Edgar Lungu earlier this month.
