THE annual inflation for July 2023 has increased to 10.3 percent from the 9.8 percent recorded in June 2023. And the Zambia Statistics Agency (ZamStats) says retail prices between July 2022 and July 2023 showed that the national average price of a 25kg bag of breakfast mealie meal increased by 39.75 percent, from K161.98 to K226.37. During a media briefing yesterday, ZamStats Statistician General Mulenga Musepa said the increase in the inflation rate was mainly attributed to price movements of selected food items. “Annual inflation for July 2023 increased to 10.3 percent from 9.8 percent recorded in June, 2023.
