THE Bank of Zambia (BoZ) says effective April 1, 2026, old banknotes will cease to be legal tender and will no longer be valid for transactions or accepted for exchange with the new series. On March 31, 2025, the BoZ issued a new currency family consisting of six banknotes and six coins. Since then, the new banknotes and coins have been circulating alongside the old currency.
