AGRICULTURE Minister Mtolo Phiri says the country currently has 375 maize storage facilities with a combined storage capacity of 1,834,210 metric tonnes. Responding to a question in the National Assembly from Chawama FDD MP Bright Nundwe, who asked how many maize storage facilities were there countrywide as of April 2026, province by province, Phiri said out of the 375 storage facilities, 303 were government-owned while 72 were privately owned. “As at April 2026, there were a total of 375 maize storage facilities countrywide with a combined storage facility of 1,834,210 metric tonnes.
