THE Food Reserve Agency (FRA) says it will purchase Non-GMO Grade A white maize at K6.94 per kilogramme, translating to K347 per 50kg bag. FRA has also dispelled social media allegations that the Agency delayed to get into the market due to bankruptcy. Meanwhile FRA has assured that Zambia will be one of the few countries in Southern Africa that won’t have to import grain due to the El Niño, saying the country has enough maize. Last year, FRA was purchasing maize at K340 per 50kg bag resulting in a difference of about K7 compared to this year.
