COPPERBELT Province Permanent Secretary Lawrence Mwanza says Shaft 28 in Luanshya is expected to begin operations in December. Government had earlier announced that copper production at the shaft mine would commence in August this year, following the completion of de-watering at the shaft. Speaking in an interview, Monday, Mwanza said 796 people had so far been employed at the mine out of the targeted 3,000 expected to be employed once production starts. “Let’s put it at December because the de-watering was completed in full.
