Kinglong Motors Zambia Limited has handed over 100 fuel tankers to the Ministry of Youth, Sport and Arts, under the Fuel Tanker Empowerment Programme. The Fuel Tanker Empowerment Programme, which was launched in 2020 at a cost of $15 million, is aimed at increasing youth participation in the petroleum sector as well as promote the retention of profits. The 100 tankers were acquired from Kinglong on a hire-purchase basis, with 50 percent of the cost paid by government and the balance structured for payment over three years. The first 50 tankers arrived in 2021 and were allocated to 50 youth cooperatives, while another 50 arrived in 2022, bringing the number of beneficiary cooperatives to 100.
