THE Food Reserve Agency (FRA) says it will not export all its maize reserves, as it will only export the surplus. Meanwhile, the Ministry of Agriculture says government will not compromise the availability of the staple food for Zambians in pursuit of export opportunities. Government has began discussions with a Kenyan business delegation over a potential export of about 10.8 million 90kg bags of maize by FRA to Kenya. Zambia produced about 5.1 million metric tonnes of maize this year, with more than 1.6 million tonnes carried over from the previous season.
