THE Food Reserve Agency (FRA) says it has bought slightly over one million metric tons of maize from farmers, and paid out over K6 billion. In an interview with News Diggers!, FRA Board Chairperson Suresh Desai says the Agency will continue to buy maize from farmers until the end of October, adding that most maize has now reached the correct moisture content. In July, FRA opened all the 1,749 satellite depots countrywide and started purchasing maize from smallholder farmers.
