A POLICE officer has denied claims that the police beat and injured murder-accused Shebby Chilekwa, who is also former president Edgar Lungu’s barber. Simunza Buyoya, an assistant superintendent based at the Police Headquarters under general criminal investigations department, also told the Lusaka High Court during cross-examination that police did not issue any advertisement in any media house regarding the search for Chilekwa. The witness had previously testified that Chilekwa, who is accused of murdering UPND member Lawrence Banda in Kaoma, was found hiding under the bed in one of the rooms at a house belonging to Lungu’s aide de camp Chisanga Chanda.
