FORMER Presidential spokesperson Amos Chanda has been granted bail by the Lusaka Magistrates’ Court after pleading not guilty to two charges of theft and destroying evidence. And Chanda says he is well and ready to defend himself against DEC’s “absurd charges”. Chanda had been in detention since last week Thursday when DEC arrested him for allegedly stealing and burning a court record of the RTSA speed camera corruption case. This is a case in which Chanda was jointly charged with Walid El Nahas and Zindaba Soko before it was discontinued through a Nolle Prosequi on May 12, 2020. Chanda was, however, denied bond by the Drug Enforcement Commission (DEC) and was detained until yesterday when the court granted him bail....
