LUSAKA High Court Judge Kenneth Mulife has convicted and sentenced a 25-year-old coxswain to 12 months imprisonment with hard labour for causing the death of six SDA youths on Lake Kariba. Justice Mulife jailed Jonathan Haajaya but acquitted his co-accused, Osborne Mambo and Tyson Hachiyako after he found them not guilty of the six counts of manslaughter. In his judgement, justice Mulife said the six deceased persons were also negligent in the manner they conducted themselves. In this matter, Haajaya, Mambo and Hachiyako were facing six counts of manslaughter. It was alleged that Haajaya, Mambo and Hachiyako on January 1, 2022, caused the death of Allan Mwaanga, Ronald Libuku, Rodwell Chileshe, Goodson Hamaila, Niza Muchibila and Zebron Shikambo.
