ONE of the men accused of abducting Pamela Chisumpa and 12 others, James Bwalya, has told the Lusaka Magistrates’ that he escaped from Mwembeshi Prisons because of some circumstances. Bwalya is jointly charged with Henry Phiri and Christopher Nchenge with one count of escape from lawful custody Contrary to Section 119 of the Penal Code Chapter 87 of the Laws of Zambia. Particulars of the offence are that Phiri, Nchenge and Bwalya, on February 26, 2023, in Lusaka, jointly and whilst acting together, being persons in lawful custody of Mwembeshi prisons did escape from such custody. When the matter came up for plea before Magistrate Keegan Litiya, the three pleaded guilty after the magistrate read out the charges to them....
