A HERBALIST has narrated to the Lusaka Magistrates’ Court how some armed police officers allegedly beat her and former president Edgar Lungu’s niece while demanding for a “parcel”. The witness testified that she was later taken to Lungu’s house in Ibex Hill where the former Head of State disclosed to her that the parcel they were looking for was the US$400,000 he had given his wife to keep for him, but she gave it to his niece. This is the matter in which former first lady Esther Lungu is jointly charged with James Phiri and Lee Chisulo, both police officers, as well as Kapambwe Lungu and Catherine Banda with theft of motor vehicle and theft charges.
