FORMER president Edgar Lungu’s political advisor Chris Zumani Zimba’s co-accused in the gassing case, Marlone Banda, has sued the State demanding damages for malicious prosecution and loss of business in the sum of over US$ 2 million. On December 1, 2023, the Lusaka High Court acquitted Zimba and three others of gassing-related charges on grounds that there was no evidence linking them to the offences. Zumani was jointly charged with Given Phiri, Marlone Banda and Portipher Gwai in connection with the 2020 gassing incidences.
