THE South African High Court, Gauteng Division, has heard that former president Edgar Lungu’s wish was that he should not be buried under the UPND administration. Former first lady Esther Lungu and the family have submitted that these wishes must be respected, adding that Esther, as the lawful surviving spouse, is entitled under the South African law to determine Lungu’s burial. This is in a matter where Attorney General Mulilo Kabesha is seeking an interim court order to prevent the burial of the late president in South Africa, arguing that it is in the public interest for his remains to be repatriated.
