THE Lusaka Magistrate’s Court has convicted and sentenced a man to five years’ imprisonment for assaulting a child with a golf club. In this matter, Mathews Lungu was charged with one count of assault on a child, contrary to Section 248(A) of the Penal Code Chapter 87 of the Laws of Zambia. Particulars of the offence alleged that Lungu, on September 1, 2025, in Lusaka, did assault R.D, a child under the age of 16 years. When the matter came up for plea, Lungu denied the charge.
