THE Lusaka Magistrates’ Court has sentenced two co-wives to two years’ simple imprisonment for offering a K4,800 bribe to a police officer to secure bond for their husband who was detained for allegedly defiling his daughter. Meanwhile, one of the women broke down after the sentence was delivered. In this matter, the two women were alleged to have corruptly offered money to a police officer as an inducement for a police bond to be granted to their husband. The duo was initially arrested on April 4, 2025, and jointly charged with another co-wife, who later died at the University Teaching Hospital on April 27 while in police custody after complaining of being unwell.
