UPND Secretary General Batuke Imenda says all current office bearers are serving legally following intra-party elections held between January and April 2026. Meanwhile, Imenda has asked the court to dismiss the petition with costs by Charles Longwe, arguing that the legal action discloses no reasonable cause of action. Longwe had filed a challenge in the Lusaka High Court seeking a declaration that the tenure of the National Management Committee, which assumed office on February 14, 2021, lapsed on February 14, 2026, in accordance with the party constitution.
