UPND John Howard Ward 3 Youth Chairperson Nambula Mashebe has told the Lusaka Magistrates’ Court that UPND youths retaliated in self-defence during a violent clash with Tonse Alliance supporters in Chawama. Meanwhile, a police officer has told the court that he suffered back injuries after being hit by a stone while responding to reports of violence. In this matter, the 14 cadres linked to the recent political violence in Chawama are charged with multiple offences, ranging from criminal trespass, malicious damage to property and assault on a police officer.
