THE Constitutional Court has declared Dr Ron Mwambwa’s appointment as Auditor General unconstitutional on grounds of age and has ordered him to immediately vacate the office. The court has ruled that Dr Mwambwa was ineligible for appointment because he was above the constitutional retirement age of 60 when he was appointed. The court has, however, declined LAZ’s request for Dr Mwambwa to repay all salaries, allowances and other emoluments he had received while occupying the office, saying it had failed to prove that Dr Mwambwa had received the monies claimed.
