LOSING NRPUP Lusaka mayoral candidate Gabriel Kibombwe has withdrawn his election petition challenging the election of Mayor-elect Chitambala Mwewa. The Local Government Elections Tribunal has since granted the application to withdraw the petition by consent of the parties, leaving Mwewa as the duly elected Mayor of Lusaka. In this matter, Kibombwe petitioned Mwewa’s election after polling 195,041 votes against Mwewa’s 200,029 votes. Kibombwe had sought, among other reliefs, a declaration that Mwewa’s election was null and void.
