THE Zambia Army has publicly dismissed celebrated amateur boxer and Olympian Stephen Zimba from military service and has warned the Olympian to stop portraying himself as a serving soldier. Zambia Army Spokesperson, Colonel Sydney Mwewa confirmed the development in a statement, noting that Lance Corporal Zimba, also known on social media as “Bimba Mawele”, ceased to be a member of the Zambia Army on January 16, 2026. According to the Army, Zimba’s dismissal was carried out in line with military law, specifically Section 21 of the Defence Act, Chapter 106 of the Laws of Zambia, read together with Regulation 9 (3), item (xviii) (a) of the Zambia Defence Force Regulations.
