JUSTICE Minister Mulambo Haimbe says government supports the Electoral Commission of Zambia (ECZ)’s decision to reject Bowman Lusambo and Joseph Malanji’s nominations. And Haimbe has described the Law Association of Zambia’s position on the duo’s eligibility as narrow and shocking. On Wednesday, ECZ announced that it would not accept nominations from any candidate who caused a vacancy in the National Assembly in line with Article 72 (4) of the Constitution. But in a statement issued shortly after, LAZ said the Constitutional Court did not disqualify Lusambo from re-contesting his former Kabushi seat, while Malanji’s eligibility depended on whether he would produce his Grade 12 certificate during nominations.
