FORMER Director of Public Prosecution Lillian Siyunyi’s lawyer Abraham Mwansa State Counsel says while his client isn’t quarrelling with her replacement with ACC Director General Gilbert Phiri, she was unconstitutionally removed from office. On Friday, President Hakainde Hichilema fired Siyunyi and replaced her with Phiri. But in an interview, Mwansa lamented that the process leading up to Siyunyi’s removal was unconstitutional. “We already filed a petition in the Constitutional Court because we don’t believe the JCC followed the procedure. We are not quarrelling with the appointment of Mr Phiri but what we are saying is that the proper procedure as provided for by the law leading to the removal of Ms Siyunyi from office was not followed.
