GOVERNMENT has increased the minimum wage for domestic workers, shop keepers and general workers among others, effective January 1, 2023. Minister of Labour and Social Security, Brenda Tambatamba said minimum wage for domestic workers has been revised from K993.60 to K1,300 while gross pay for a shop keeper has been increased from K1,698.60, to K2,313.10. Speaking to journalists at a press briefing, Tambatamba said the upward revision of the minimum wage comes after a consultative meeting with tripartite constituencies and other key stakeholders. “I wish to update the nation that government has concluded the consultations with the tripartite constituencies and other key stakeholders on the revision of the minimum wages and conditions of employment for the vulnerable categories of employees…....
