ATTORNEY General Mulilo Kabesha has cautioned the police and other investigative wings not to carry out illegal detentions as it is costly to the country. Recently, Transport and Logistics Minister Frank Tayali sued the State, demanding damages for aggravated assault allegedly suffered at the hands of police. A number of UPND members have also sued the state for false imprisonment and unlawful detention among other offences committed during the PF era. Commenting on the matter in an interview, Friday, Kabesha said individuals including ministers had a right to sue the state when their rights were trampled upon.
