THE Auditor General has revealed that out of the K29 million loans disbursed by the Ministry of Youth, Sport and Arts to youth cooperatives in 2021, only K3 million had been repaid. According to the Auditor General’s report on the accounts of the republic for the financial year ending 2022, most of the cooperatives neglected to pay back the money despite various demand notices being issued. “A review of disbursement schedules provided by the Ministry revealed that during the period between August 2020 and December 2021, the Ministry disbursed amounts totalling K54,537,393 to 554 youth co-operative groups towards support to micro, small and medium enterprises in Western, Southern, North-Western, Copperbelt, Northern and Eastern Provinces.
