THE Zambia Police Service says it recorded 10,434 cases of Gender Based Violence (GBV) country-wide during the third quarter of 2023. The police service has also indicated that 2,550 child victims were abused countrywide during the same period, representing 24.4 percent of all the victims of Gender Based Violence. In a statement yesterday, Police spokesperson Rae Hamoonga disclosed that 7,305 criminal reports were recorded during the period under review compared to the 6,303 recorded during the same period in 2022, showing an increase of 1, 002 cases. “A total of 10,434 reports of Gender Based Violence were recorded countrywide during the third quarter of 2023. 7,305 were Criminal reports whilst 3,129 were Non-Criminal reports translating to 70% and 30% respectively....
