OPPOSITION parties say they have noted increased desperation by President Hakainde Hichilema to kill the opposition in Zambia because he has released that he’s leaving office in 2026. But Chief Government Spokesperson Cornelius Mweetwa says chances of a change of government in 2026 are “extremely” remote. During a media briefing yesterday, Citizens First leader Harry Kalaba, who spoke on behalf of other opposition parties, said President Hichilema was now desperate after realising that he had little to show for in the years he had been in power.
