MINISTRY of Education Permanent Secretary for Technical Services Joel Kamoko has described revelations of abuse of school grants as an embarrassment and a lack of respect by custodians of schools. And Kamoko says the Ministry is committed to including schools in the new districts being declared as drought-prone to the school feeding programme. Last week, the Ministry of Finance and National Planning revealed that it conducted an internal audit on the utilisation of school grants in 182 schools countrywide. The audit revealed elements of abuse amounting to K13,356,459.47, while those relating to management failure totalled K62,884,168.78.
