MINISTER of Education Douglas Syakalima has disclosed that out of the 130,615 candidates who sat for the 2025 Grade 9 External examination, 102,271 passed in at least one subject, while 28,344 failed the examination. Furthermore, the minister has revealed that out of the 136,455 candidates who sat for the GCE examination, 117,301 passed in at least one subject, while 19,154 failed after not passing any of the subjects they took. Meanwhile, Syakalima says 17 cases of suspected examination malpractices were reported during the 2025 Junior Secondary External Examination, while 479 cases were reported during the 2025 GCE examination.
