THE mass voter registration exercise aimed at registering new voters, replacing lost or damaged voter cards and facilitating transfers of polling stations ahead of the 2026 general elections has been characterised by a low turnout. Electoral Commission of Zambia (ECZ) Chief Electoral Officer Brown Kasaro says the commission will continue to monitor and respond to issues as they arise to ensure that eligible citizens register as voters. Meanwhile, Kasaro says all the registration kits are equipped with rechargeable batteries which are powered by generators during electricity outages.
