HISTORIAN Dr Sishuwa Sishuwa on Saturday caused a social media firestorm by claiming that President Hakainde Hichilema had ordered a nationwide internet shutdown today to facilitate the rigging of the Bill 7 vote in Parliament, an allegation State House Chief Communications Specialist Clayson Hamasaka denied. Hamasaka publicly challenged Dr Sishuwa, asking, “so what will this liar say tomorrow (Monday) because Internet won’t be shut down? There were never such plans at all”. Dr Sishuwa later responded on X, arguing that Hamasaka is either uninformed about the President’s inner-circle decisions, or President Hichilema has abandoned the alleged scheme after the plan was exposed.
