THE Auditor General’s office has released its Audit Report on the Accounts of Local Authorities for the financial year ended December 31, 2024, revealing persistent weaknesses in governance and financial management across several councils. Acting Auditor General Dr Ron Mwambwa says the report highlights the misapplication of funds, unspent grants and over-employment of staff, all of which point to weak internal controls.
