LOCAL contractors are increasingly becoming the face of development in rural districts, and in Kayuni of Ing’ombe Ward, Chirundu District, that change is taking visible shape in brick and mortar. A local contractor has welcomed the opportunity to construct two classroom blocks under the Constituency Development Fund (CDF), describing the engagement as both a vote of confidence in local capacity and a boost to the community’s development efforts. At the construction site, technical supervisor Tyson Siampongo, who is building a 1×3 classroom block at Kayuni Primary School, said the structure is about 75 per cent complete, while another classroom block is still at foundation level.
