SIAVONGA Town Council has officially commenced the construction of the long-awaited Chimutengo Market, a project valued at approximately K2,400,000, in a move aimed at improving trading conditions and supporting small-scale businesses in the district. Once completed, the new market will feature modern shelter, improved sanitation facilities, secure trading bays, and enhanced safety measures aimed at creating a clean, organised, and conducive environment for both traders and customers. Although the contractor was nowhere in sight during a recent inspection, the market’s foundation had already been laid and building materials stacked on site, right in the heart of Siavonga town.
