EDUCATION Minister Douglas Syakalima says financial and human resource constraints have affected the Zambia Qualifications Authority (ZAQA)’s ability to scale operations and strengthen monitoring functions. Syakalima notes that the Authority has experienced growing demand for qualification verification and evaluation services, particularly for employment and further study, which has at times stretched institutional capacity. Speaking at the inauguration of the ZAQA Board, Wednesday, Syakalima said the Board is mandated to provide strategic direction, set policy and ensure accountability among other duties. “The Authority continues to face several challenges in the execution of its mandate, many of which are not unique to Zambia but are common to qualifications authorities globally.
