THE Food Reserve Agency (FRA) Board Chairman Suresh Desai says the agency is pushing banks to have payments to farmers cleared within the next few days. Desai says the payment delays have continued because banks are struggling to cope up with the huge number of farmers queuing up for their money. Recently, FRA disclosed that it had paid 99 percent of the farmers that supplied maize to the Agency.
