A 36-YEAR-OLD Livingstone woman suffering from a mental illness has died after being attacked by a crocodile at the Maramba River. Police have revealed that Maramba Compound residents tried to save the woman’s life by pursuing the crocodile, which later released her. Southern Province Police Commanding Officer Moono Namalongo confirmed the incident, which occurred at around 17:00 hours on Tuesday at Maramba River, commonly referred to as Mulamba River. “On January 20, 2026, at 17:30 hours, Libuyu Police Station received a report through Mbita Police Post of a crocodile attack from Ms Samunda Mudenda, aged 35, of ZECCO Compound, Livingstone.
