A COOPERATIVE of 10 women in Mambwe District’s Chipapa ward is one of the beneficiaries of the Youth, Women and Community Empowerment component of the Constituency Development Fund (CDF). Felesia Phiri and Idah Mvula, two members of the cooperative called Goshern Cooperative, testify how before receiving K25,000 to start a chicken run, they would routinely get loans called Kaloba to help their families make ends meet. Meanwhile, according to Mambwe Town Council records, a total of K18,092,903.52 was disbursed in CDF loans and grants between 2022 and 2025, benefiting 428 groups.
