HEALTH Minister Dr Elijah Muchima has disclosed that Zambia records 15,000 new cancer cases annually, stating that 60 percent of those diagnosed with cancer do not survive. Dr Muchima says more than 9,000 people die from cancer annually. Speaking during the commemoration of World Cancer Day in Lusaka, Wednesday, Dr Muchima said cancer was treatable at stages one and two, but noted that most people went to the hospital when it was already at an advanced stage. “The statistics remain a sobering call to action.
