THE Minerals Regulation Commission (MRC) has lifted the suspension of underground operations at Mopani Copper Mines’ Mufulira mine, effective immediately, following the implementation of enhanced safety measures. Ministry of Mines Principal Public Relations Officer Kalani Muchima says the enhanced safety measures implemented by the mine include an upgraded Biometric System that automatically generates a clearance report two hours after the end of every shift. On Friday, the Commission suspended underground operations at the mine due to its failure to comply with safety regulations, specifically the requirement to maintain an accurate personnel accounting system for underground workers.
