GOVERNANCE Advocate Rueben Lifuka says government’s directive that public media must give equal coverage to political parties is welcome, although it has come a little too late. He hopes that this directive will translate into measurable and sustained action as the country approaches the election date. Recently, Information Minister Cornelius Mweetwa directed public broadcasters like ZNBC to give balanced coverage to all political parties, saying their behaviour of trying to impress government with pro-government stories could make an administration unpopular.
