GOVERNMENT has increased salaries for chiefs and retainers, following President Hakainde Hichilema’s directive at the Kulamba Traditional Ceremony in August 2025. The Paramount Chiefs’ wages have been increased to K18,000.00 from K13,000.00, while those of Senior Chiefs have been adjusted to K16,500.00 from K11,500.00. Chiefs’ wages have been raised to K15,000.00 from K10,000.00, while retainers’ wages have been increased to K5,500.00 from K2,500.00.
