THE University of Zambia (UNZA) has directed all students to vacate hostels immediately, warning that those found loitering will face expulsion. Last week, UNZA Deputy Vice-Chancellor Professor Boniface Namangala announced that the institution would go on recess from Friday, April 17, 2026, to May 22, 2026. This followed the UNZA Students’ Union leadership’s call for an early recess, citing a water crisis that had left sanitation facilities broken and conditions unsafe.
