“BEFORE receiving the motorbikes, our work was extremely difficult. Whenever we were sent to summon people, we would walk long distances sometimes up to 18 kilometres, and often return late at night, which was both exhausting and dangerous,” says Titus Sakala, a retainer serving Her Royal Highness Chieftainess Mwanya of Lumezi District. In 2025, government distributed 286 motorbikes to chiefs’ retainers across the country to improve how they work and serve their communities. In Lumezi Constituency, the impact is already clear. Retainers can now move faster and reach far places more easily.
